World Book Day

Hawk Owls have had an eventful week! On Tuesday, Mr McDowell did his annual Shrove Tuesday pancake tossing assembly. The children learnt about Lent and the reasons for making pancakes on this day. Some children and teachers then had the opportunity to toss pancakes in front of the rest of the children. It was a lot of fun!

Thursday was World Book Day and many of the children came dressed as their favourite literary characters. The Year 6 children came to Hawk Owls class and read with them. It was fantastic to see the children read together with such enthusiasm!

Remembrance Day

This week the children from Eagle Owls made clay poppies to commemorate the brave people who fought and died in wars. We observed the two minute silence at 11 o’clock on Wednesday and then placed our clay poppies in the flower beds by the school hall.
We also talked about the reason why we remember the soldiers and why we use the poppy as a symbol.
